Gertrude Lawrence: A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening is the latest collaboration between superbly gifted actor and singer, Lucy Stevens & pianist Elizabeth Marcus.This show with music tells her story: funny, revealing and full of songs from London’s variety theatre.
Drawn from Gertie’s memoir ‘A Star Danced’ and packed with hits written for her by Coward, Gershwin, Kurt Weill and Rodgers & Hammerstein, Stevens’ portrayal of this feisty theatre star is mesmerising – bringing the audience to laughter and tears in a funny, moving, uplifting show. The live accompaniment from pianist Elizabeth Marcus brings us the real musical theatre experience as we journey through the life of this 20th century super star.
