Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro – A Relaxed Performance

24 April
2:00 pm
- 3:00 pm
Free

We are delighted to present an afternoon of extracts from Mozart’s masterpiece with Abigail Sudbury, soprano, and Alistair Sutherland, baritone, and live accompaniment from an ensemble of musicians led by our very own Dave Ayre. This is a special performance for people who have difficulty attending standard scheduled concerts. In a relaxed performance there is no need to stay seated and silent. You can come and go as you please, move around – even join in! These wonderful performers are experienced at working with people who have special needs and can deliver a world-class concert which is truly relaxed and inclusive.

Free entry for those with additional needs, their carers and family.  It could also suit people who cannot access concerts in the evening.

Booking is ESSENTIAL so please book your tickets as soon as you can to ensure a place.  There are 2 shows – at 2pm and 3.30pm – each lasting approximately one hour.

This concert was due to take place last December but Covid concerns caused it to be re-scheduled. Covid safety measures will still be in place for this performance.

About the Artists

Abigail Sudbury – Soprano

Abigail trained as both a nurse and an opera singer. Early in her singing career, she discovered the joy of inclusive music making and has been encouraging others to sing and participate ever since. She now works as a singing teacher, an SEND music workshop leader, and runs an inclusive singing group. She lives in East Sussex with two cats and her beloved spaniel.

Alistair Sutherland – Baritone

Alistair began with the Opera Holland Park chorus in 2010 where he was selected as as 2012 Christie Collins Young Artist performing in Gianni Schicchi. He continues to work with the company as a chorister and comprimario, performing roles such as Pinellino (Gianni Schicchi) or Crébillion (La rondine). With OHPInspire Alistair performs in hospitals and care homes and works on a variety of different education and outreach projects as a performer and facilitator.
