R is for Revolution
10:00 am - 29 September 2019
5:00 pm

Make your mark. Add your views. What does Revolution mean to you?
This experimental community installation will take the form of a giant alphabet – 26 printed letters – each exploring what ‘Revolution’ means to different people living in Stroud and the valleys.
Gloucestershire Printmakers Cooperative’s Christine Felce and Rachel Oram are inviting comments from the public in specially printed books placed around the town throughout the summer. They will then run workshops using letterpress techniques to produce the giant alphabet letters, the resultant prints being displayed in an exhibition in the Museum in the Park.
Alongside this art installation will be talks by art historian Shelley Campbell, poetry readings with Adam Horovitz and Dennis Gould, music especially composed for the event by Ione Mako and a ‘revolutionary’ tea party! All the events in this community arts project are free entry, but places are limited so booking is essential
If you’d like to take part in the free workshops and art history lectures (18 and 20 September), or attend the Revolutionary Poetry event (26 September at 8pm), or join in the ‘Revolutionary tea party’ (28 September, 2pm to 3pm), please contact the Museum in the Park.
And look out for the R is for Revolution Books where you can add your comments in the following locations:
Black Book Cafe; Sound Records; Stroud Valleys Artspace; Stroud Bookshop; Loose Plastic Free; Stroud Library; Star Anise Cafe; Printmakers Gallery.
