Relaxed Opera for Everyone
2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Stroud Arts Festival is dedicated to bringing the arts to people of any age and background. Some people find it difficult to attend traditional performances of classical music and opera, so we are delighted to announce two relaxed performances of a wonderful new production, created by our own, unique ensemble of professional singers and musicians.
This year we are creating a musical adventure of magic and mystery, taking the participants on an interactive, journey. At each step, performers (and the audience get the opportunity to join in too!) work with musical instruments, items of clothing, sounds and other sensory tools, to connect people with places and cultures, unlocking dances from around the world. There are 2 performances – 2pm and 3.30pm – each with a maximum audience size of 40 in the spacious Ballroom, so plenty of space to move around. There will also be a quiet space in an adjacent room should anyone feel the need to go out of the show. And of course you’ll be able to come back in again!
Dave Ayre, Abigail Sudbury and Alistair Sutherland first met whilst working together on Opera Holland Park’s nationally acclaimed outreach programme ‘Inspire’, enriching the lives of disadvantaged people for over a decade. As well as ‘Inspire’, they have worked in special needs and outreach projects in schools, colleges, day centres, community spaces, hospitals, and hospices around the UK, with Britten Sinfonia, English National Opera, Mid Wales Opera, the Nelson Trust, Opera North, the Royal Opera House, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sinfonia Viva.
There are 2 one-hour shows 2pm-3pm and 3.30pm-4.30pm
These shows are free to all, but places are limited so booking is essential
