Edward Elgar – Pomp and Circumstance March no. 4 and a selection from the Enigma Variations including Nimrod.

Under their conductor Jonathan Trim, Stroud Symphony Orchestra will be performing a wonderful choice of English music with its roots firmly in the local landscape. A programme of contrasted works by local composers including favourites such as Holst’s Jupiter from The Planets and movements from the Enigma Variations by Elgar, alongside  exciting new discoveries including two compositions by the orchestra’s inspirational conductor, celebrated local composer Jonathan Trim. His beautiful and evocative musical landscape Heart Of The Five Valleys will feature alongside the world premiere of his recent composition Symphonia Pandemica.

A highlight of this concert will be The Lark Ascending by Vaughan William, voted as the UK’s favourite classical piece and performed by John Pearce, a violinist of “immense technical grasp…passionate commitment to everything he plays.” Venue
